Meet our Caravans

'Elsie', our 4 berth 1964 Castleton Rovana

Imagine..going to a campsite, family gathering or a festival with the kids - but this time you don't have to struggle with a tent! You just turn up to site, and there's your home from home, all set up and ready to use. Elsie is compact and bijou - built for families in the early 1960's, she is ideal for couples with smaller children. She has a kitchen featuring a sink with pump tap, double ring gas hob/grill and a fridge that can be mains or solar powered, for off-grid breaks. She also boasts a cassette toilet using environmentally friendly chemicals - very advanced for 1964!. There is a single bed (with a bunk above suitable for children up to 40kg), both with bedside lights and plug sockets, and a seating area with table that converts to a double bed at the front end of the van. All the beds are 190cm long but they are narrower than modern beds - the double bed is 120cm wide, the single bed is 60cm wide and the bunk bed is 50cm wide. Elsie is brightly furnished throughout and has the benefit of solar panel powered interior lights, and two solar panel powered 12 volt sockets for phone charging. She also has 240V electrically powered sockets throughout which can be used with electric hook-up, when available. We aim to make family caravan holidays easy - we deliver our Elsie to your choice of site (conditions apply) and set her up prior to your arrival. She also comes complete with an awning that boasts a four seat dining table and chairs. We can also stock the fridge with food - just ask us in advance, as we have some amazing local producers!

Prices on booking.com are £100 per night. For a preferential rate, especially for longer stays, please call Clare on 07502 146267 or email  retrocaravanholidays@gmail.com for a quote and to book.

Elsie is usually sited at Pen Y Graig Farm on the Sugarloaf Mountain in Abergavenny, with stunning mountain views, providing dog-friendly accommodation for well behaved dogs and their owners! However, is it also possible to rent Elsie for other campsites, festivals and when extra accommodation for family get togethers - just call Clare to arrange and book (delivery charges may apply depending on distance). We deliver/collect as our insurance doesn't permit anyone else to tow.

'The Mighty Atom' our 2 berth 1976 Safari

The Mighty Atom is a 1976 Safari, built near Stroud. She's a 2 berth and features a comfy double bed, updated mustard yellow upholstery, new oven, hob and outside gas fridge, and solar panel for off grid life. She also has a cheeky cocktail cabinet, de rigeur in the 70's!

She has a table and two chairs for outside dining underneath her yellow and white awning,  and a small barbecue is provided.  Please note, she does not have a shower but she does have a flushing cassette toilet (using eco friendly chemicals) and a wash handbasin in the bathroom - and if you're staying at Pen Y Graig Farm, there is also an outdoor shower cubicle with the best mountain views you've ever seen from a shower!
